Last month Warner Bros. committed to Blu-ray, this week Net-flix and Best Buy, the leading bricks-and-mortar retailer of electronics, pitched their tent in camp Blu-ray as well.
Blu-ray has Best Buy, Netflix, Sony, MGM, Warner Bros., Disney/Buena Vista, 20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema and Lionsgate in its camp, while HD DVD has Universal and Paramount. Isn’t the battle over?
At this point, you can’t really call it a format war, rather it’s a last stand. The sooner it’s called, the sooner consumers will be comfortable buying the new technology, sicne the fear of buying the wrong product will be mitigated.
